FIELD DATA COLLECTION
Vernier LabQuest2A standalone, touch screen interface used to collect sensor data with built-in graphing and analysis capability. This handheld device uses a number of sensors (separate external attachments described below) to take and record measurement data on a variety of environmental factors such as wind speed, temperature, and lighting. With wi-fi connection capability, recorded data can be emailed directly for manipulation and further graphical representation on personal computers.

AnemometerA device for measuring wind speed in dynamic environments or of that generated by fans and/or wind tunnels. Through the spinning impeller within the sensor, the device provides accurate wind speed data which can be used in preliminary design, post- occupancy studies, and scale mock-ups.

Carbon Dioxide Gas SensorA sensor that measures gaseous carbon dioxide levels via the amount of infrared radiation absorbed by carbon dioxide molecules. With two ranges: a low range from 0-10,000 ppm and a high range from 0-100,000 ppm, the sensor can measure the change in carbon dioxide levels for a variety of systems.

Infrared ThermometerA sensor for measuring the infrared radiation emitted by objects. For most objects, simply point the sensor at the object and read its temperature(s). The infrared thermometer can be used to measure temperature differences between materials, joint details, and surfaces as a whole.

Light SensorA light sensor that approximates the human eye in spectral response. Capable of recording a range from 0-150,000Lux, the sensor is useful in recording light intensity for a number of studies: various interiors of a building, reflectivity of various materials/surfaces, artificial light comparisons, etc.

Relative Humidity SensorA sensor used to measure relative humidity in the air for human thermal comfort, air quality, and/or weather studies. As temperature and humidity are the primary influencers of human thermal comfort, a sensor to measure the humidity of spaces is critical in post-occupancy studies.

Sound Level MeterA sensor that measures sound levels in decibels. It can be used for research such as:
- environmental noise studies - sound level comparisons - investigating room acoustics - sound isolation/propagation modeling |
Ultraviolet A (UVA) SensorAn ultraviolet light sensor that responds primarily to long wave (UVA) radiation (approximately 320-390 nm). The sensor is recommended for studies involving sunlight, post-occupancy studies related to occupant health, and comparisons of different window/glass types and radiation transmittance.

Ultraviolet B (UVB) SensorAn ultraviolet light sensor that responds primarily to medium wave (UVB) radiation (approximately 290-320 nm). The sensor is recommended for studies involving sunlight, post-occupancy studies related to occupant health, and comparisons of different window/glass types and radiation transmittance.

Watts Up? ProA device used to monitor real-time electricity usage, with calculated maximum potential, current, power, and cumulative costs. Used for real-time and long term plug load studies, it has the ability to collect electricity usage data in combination with data from other sensors such as temperature, light, or relative humidity.

Kestrel Drop D3 Environmental Data LoggerA small and rugged (water and shock resistant) environmental data logger used to record temperature, humidity, heat index, dew point temperature, station pressure, density altitude, and pressure trend in a range of applications. Through wireless sync with the LiNK app on a smartphone or tablet, reading intervals can be customized (as frequently as every 2 seconds) and recordings can be viewed real-time and analyzed, or exported for further manipulation and analysis.
Kestrel Drop D2 Environmental Data Logger
Similar to the D3, but this device only collects temperature, relative humidity, heat index, and dew point temperature.

EL-USB-2 Temperature and Humidity LoggerA data logger that measures and stores up to 16,382 relative humidity and temperature readings over 0 to 100%RH and -31 to 176°F ranges. The logging rate and start time are customizable and the stored data can be downloaded by plugging the logger into a USB port and running the purpose designed software. Relative humidity, temperature and dew point data can then be graphed, printed and exported to other applications for manipulation and graphic representation.
